Kicked off Sunday, May 25, 2025, the Biigtigong Nishnaabeg Community Clean-Up brought together over 150 dedicated volunteers for a week of hard work, collaboration, and pride in keeping our land beautiful.
🍔 Kick-Off Event
We launched the clean-up with a BBQ lunch and a lively penny auction to thank those who rolled up their sleeves. A total of 50 prizes were up for grabs, generously donated by PRDC.
🧹 Clean-Up Impact
Thanks to our amazing volunteers, we successfully:

Collected 5.63 tonnes of waste across 7 bins

Removed 4.02 tonnes of scrap metal in 5 bins

♻️ Appliance Round-Up – A First for Biigtigong!
Continuing the beautification efforts, we hosted our first-ever Appliance Round-Up, making it easier for residents to dispose of large items responsibly.
We collected and properly disposed of:

23 refrigerators

44 miscellaneous appliances (BBQs, washers, dryers, and more)
This initiative was offered at minimal cost to residents, helping reduce environmental impact while promoting community pride.
